Adding News Content

Adding News Content

In order to add a news story to your site, first you must have a News Section page. This is the central index of all the news stories that get published to your site. It is from this page that News Content is added. If you do not already have a news section page you can create one by clicking on Page Properties -> Add New Page -> News Section Page.

Once inside the News Section Page, go to Page Properties -> Add New Page -> News Content Page.

You'll be prompted to fill in a Title field, and after finishing the Name field will auto-complete.

Click Create Page and it will bring you to a blank page with your title at the top. To add your actual content, from the gray bar or the administrative drop-down menu select Advanced -> Switch to Design Mode. Here you'll see, under your title, the header for the Advanced Data Display portlet. If you click on edit at the right hand of that header, it will allow you to add your content as you would on any other page. To ensure that your News is rendering perfectly, fill up Title, Summary, and Body fields. click Publish

One thing to keep in mind when entering the content for your News Content Pages is that it will ask you for a title again. This title will appear in any news boxes elsewhere on the site connected to this news section page (such as on the front page) as the title of the story, and the summary field will appear as the sentence beneath that. If you do not fill out the title and/or summary fields the news story may not appear in the news section or on other pages linked to that news section.

TIP: As soon as your site is built, Sharpschool has created a built in News Section and News Content Page on your site as an example. They are usually in the What's New Page under News . If you havent edited anything in your site, simply go to your page named What's New (which is a News Section Page) then go to Page Properties, Add New Page, News Content Page, fill in a Title field, and after finishing the Name field will auto-complete. Click Create Page and it will bring you to a blank page with your title at the top
